Student Family School Compact

 

Claggett Creek Middle School, and the parents/guardians of the students participating in activities, services and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and participating students, agree that this compact outlines how families, the entire school staff, and the students, will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and families will build and develop a partnership that will help students achieve the State’s high standards.

SCHOOL RESPONSIBILITIES

Claggett Creek Middle School will:

  1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating students to meet the State’s student achievement standards as follows:

    • Consistently implement “writing to learn” strategies in all classrooms, with an emphasis on all five phases of the focused note-taking process.

    • Provide a multi–tier system of support – all educators will deliver, with support, effective standards-based academic instruction with differentiation to meet student needs and aspirations.

    • Increase our students’ sense of belonging and positive rating of teacher-student relationships for all students with a focus on students who are English language learners.

  2. Hold student-led parent/teacher conferences Fall 2025 and Spring 2026, during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Specifically, those conferences will be held:

    • October 22 & 23, 2025 and March 11 & 12, 2026

  3. Provide parents/guardians with frequent reports on their student’s progress. Specifically, the school will provide reports as follows:

    • Parents/guardians will be given access to ParentVUE in order to help them monitor their student’s progress, and view final grade reports at the end of each grading period online.

    • Printed grade reports will be provided to parents/guardians upon request.

  4. Provide parents/guardians reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents/guardians as follows:

    • During regularly scheduled school parent/guardian conferences.

    • During teacher office hours Monday through Friday of the school week.

    • Through e-mail: teacher’s lastname_firstname@salkeiz.k12.or.us

    • As scheduled between parent/guardian and teacher.

  5. Provide parents/guardians opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities, as follows:

    • Information on volunteering to be available on our district website.

    • Title I Family Nights.

    • As requested by parents/guardians.

FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES

We, as parent/guardian, will support our student’s learning in the following ways by:

  1. Monitoring my student’s attendance and complying with mandatory attendance laws.

  2. Making sure that homework is completed and encouraging reading at home.

  3. Participating in decisions relating to my student’s education.

  4. Promoting positive use of my student’s extracurricular time.

  5. Attending school conferences and Title I Family Nights.

  6. Staying informed about my student’s education and communicating with the school by promptly reading all notices from school or the school district as received by my student, on website, or ParentSquare notifications.

  7. Supporting school policies and programs to encourage academic achievement and a positive school climate.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

We, as students, will share the responsibility to improve our academic achievement and achieve the State’s high standards. Specifically, we will:

  1. Attend school regularly and comply with mandatory attendance laws.

  2. Do my classwork and homework every day and ask for help from teachers when needed.

  3. Read at least 20 minutes every day outside of school time.

  4. Give to my parents/guardians all notices and information received by me from my school every day.

  5. Participate in extra learning opportunities as needed to improve academic achievement.
